Competency Based Education: New Course Analytics
We're excited to introduce Course Analytics. Until now that evidence lived inside individual activities, so seeing the bigger picture meant clicking through activity after activity. It now rolls up into one view that shows what's going well, what needs your attention, and what you can do about it straight away.
Start with the overview, drill down when you need to. The new all-courses page shows every course you teach, each summarised across three pillars: completion, performance, and engagement. From there you can open a course, an activity, or an individual student, and jump straight to the source activity or your LMS course whenever you want the full context.
Three measures:
- Completion shows who is getting through the work, per step and over time.
- Performance shows average results and where students scored lowest.
- Engagement counts the interactions students actually make, comments, questions, threads, replies, so you can see who is doing the minimum and who is going well beyond it.
Each metric comes with a short explainer of how it's calculated, so nothing is a black box.
Improvements for all users
Clearer "no grade" experience for students and teachers
We've improved how results are communicated when a student doesn't receive any peer feedback — making the outcome clearer and more reassuring for both students and teachers.
For students: In the grading step, the result now appears alongside a helpful indicator, with a short explanation on hover: "You did not receive any peer feedback, so no grade could be calculated. This is not a grade of 0 and does not reflect your performance." This gives students immediate, friendly context so they understand the result reflects their situation, not their effort.
For teachers: The grading table now surfaces these cases with a clear indicator on the relevant student rows and grade chips. A quick hover explains that no grade could be calculated because no peer feedback was received — making it easy to spot and understand at a glance. The same explanation now carries through to the .xlsx grade export as a cell note, so the context stays with the data.
The result is a more transparent, supportive grading experience: consistent, easy-to-understand language everywhere the result appears, giving students confidence and teachers clarity.

Coming soon: Oral Assessment and Practice
As generative AI makes it harder to verify whether submitted work reflects a student’s own thinking, oral assessment allows students to demonstrate their learning by putting it into their own words, out loud.
Three new activities support this at scale: Oral Practice, for formative rehearsal with an AI voice agent or a peer; Oral Reflection, for recording video responses to defined topics about submissions or skills; and Oral Assessment, for running instructor-led summative activities within the LMS with a consistent structure and no additional workload.
Instructors can review recordings and interactive transcripts, use rubrics to provide structured feedback, and assign grades—all within FeedbackFruits. Acai, our pedagogy-driven AI, supports the process by helping instructors outline topics and generate rubrics during setup, surfacing key moments during review, and suggesting grades. The final decision always remains with the instructor.
