About the Beta
Oral Assessment & Practice — the solution comprising Oral Practice, Oral Assessment, and Oral Reflection — is available in Beta from August 2026 for partners piloting or paying for these tools. Availability depends on your institution’s package or license; your Partner Manager can tell you whether the Beta applies to you.
General availability is planned for September 2026. Until then, the tools carry a Beta label in the product, and some functionality described below is still limited.
Known limitations during the Beta
- Scheduling — there is no built-in scheduling for live Oral Assessments. Agree on session times with your students through your usual channels.
- In-room assessments — there is no dedicated support for oral assessments where student and assessor share a room. As a workaround, have both devices join the session with one shared microphone (preferably the student’s). Because the recording is stored as a single combined track, the transcript may not attribute speakers correctly.
- Timestamped feedback — feedback on specific moments in a recording is not yet available; feedback applies to the session as a whole.
- Group modes — group practice, group assessment, and group reflection are not available. Oral Practice supports the Acai voice agent and 1:1 peer conversations; Oral Assessment supports one student with one or more assessors; Oral Reflection supports solo and voice-agent reflection.
- Voice agent language — Acai speaks English only. It understands English, Spanish, French, Portuguese, German, Italian, and Dutch.
- Recording length — we recommend keeping sessions under roughly 30 minutes.
