Moodle: activity deadlines now appear in the Moodle calendar

FeedbackFruits activity deadlines are now automatically published to user calendars in Moodle, as they are in Canvas and Brightspace. Teachers and students can view upcoming FeedbackFruits deadlines directly in their Moodle calendars. 
This is not enabled by default: please contact our support team to have it activated for your institution.

Rubric import: now also accepts plain text

Rubric Import now supports plain text in addition to PDFs, Word documents, images, and spreadsheets.

Users can paste text directly into the importer. The text is then converted into a FeedbackFruits rubric that can be reviewed and adjusted before use.

Bug fixes

Blackboard: due dates now visible immediately after creating an activity

Previously, due dates for newly created FeedbackFruits activities in Blackboard Ultra sometimes appeared only after the activity was reopened or after a delay.

The first launch after an activity is created now links the correct gradebook item and publishes the upcoming deadline immediately. Students can therefore see the due date as soon as the activity has been set up.

Now in Beta: Oral Assessment and Practice

As generative AI makes it harder to verify whether submitted work reflects a student’s own thinking, oral assessment allows students to demonstrate their learning by putting it into their own words, out loud.

Three new activities support this at scale: 

• Oral Practice, for formative rehearsal with an AI voice agent or a peer; 
• Oral Reflection, for recording video responses to defined topics about submissions or skills; and 
• Oral Assessment, for running instructor-led summative activities within the LMS with a consistent structure and no additional workload.

Instructors can review recordings and interactive transcripts, use rubrics to provide structured feedback, and assign grades, all within FeedbackFruits. Acai, our pedagogy-driven AI, supports the process by helping instructors outline topics and generate rubrics during setup, surfacing key moments during review, and suggesting grades. The final decision always remains with the instructor.
