Overall Student Progress

At the top of the assignment, you will see the Overall student progress overview. Click on statistics per active student to see individual students' progress. Here you can see what grade the students have received; if they have read the instructions and if they have read their feedback.

Click on the headers in each column to change the order (ascending or descending) in which students are displayed. You can also click Fullscreen to pop out the full display of student progress.

The check marks under read instructions mean that that student has finished the step. The light green dot means the student has not read the instructions yet.

 

Under the Given Reviews and Received Reviews headers, you will find the completion status of each review for each student. If a student has completed the module, it will display ✔ Completed instead of a percentage.

 

It is also possible to export all the student data into an excel file. This file contains information concerning review ratings, review comments and grading. You can download this export by clicking on the EXPORT ANALYTICS button in the overall student progress window.

Step 1: Instructions

 

Here you can see the instructions written when setting up the assignment. These can be changed by clicking on edit on the top right corner of the screen. Fill in your overall instructions for the assignment. Note that you will not be able to publish/save the assignment if you leave this field blank.

 

 

 

Collaboration Options

Directly underneath the instructions, you can select options for student collaboration.

 

 

 

When selecting student collaboration options, there are several configurations to choose from. Please bear in mind that collaboration options need to be selected before students participate in the assignment - once a student makes progress, the configurations can't be updated.

 

 

 

• Individually.

  Use this option if you want students to work individually and should be reviewed individually as well. All feedback provided to the student will be based on their individual skills and will only be visible to them.

   

• As a group

  Use this option if you want students to work as a group and should also be reviewed as a group. In this case, the students will be provided with feedback based on their skills as a group, with this feedback being visible for all group members.

   

• Individually, show as groups

  Use this option if you want students to work individually and be reviewed individually, but show within their group. This option allows for students to be displayed to the teacher in groups selected from the LMS. This collaboration option makes it easier for multiple teachers to work together in one assignment, and filter the students they have to review by groups. The two individual collaboration options appear identical to the student.

   

   

Step 2: Give Feedback on Students

In step 2, you can add your feedback criteria and explanation cards. When you press configure, you can create the criteria you want to use to give feedback to the students.

 

 

 

You can choose between a rubric, scale rating or comment criteria. You can either manually set up a new one, or you can copy one from your previous assignments.

Explanation Cards: You can set up an explanation card by providing a title specifying what the feedback is about. You can also choose to add any further explanations.

 

 

Click create card to set up an explanation card - you can add a title and description for the card. 

 

When reviewing the assignment, a field will pop up prompting you to write custom feedback, as is normal for the Skill Review and Assignment Review tools. The Explanation Card feature should however be visible just below this field. Click on + EXPLANATION CARD to select a card to use.

 

A pop-up will appear listing all available cards. Simply select the one you wish to use and press ADD to include this feedback in your comment.

After pressing ADD your feedback card (and optional description) will be visible to the student once you post the comment.

 

Visibility: Choose when the students can see their feedback. You can set this to 'immediately', 'after a certain date', or 'never (release manually)'.

 

Give Feedback on Students: Active Assignment

As a teacher. you are able to provide feedback in this step.

 

Press start reviewing/continue reviewing to go through the reviews one by one. You can also click on review behind a specific student/group to start reviewing that specific selection.

 

You can also see if a review has been completed, indicated by the purple check mark. You can see who has reviewed the student and how many comments have been given.

 

 

 

When reviewing, you use the rubrics to review the student. When you are done reviewing you can press next at the bottom of the page to go to the next student to review.

 

 

 

Feedback-on-feedback: If enabled, you can view the feedback-on-feedback grade, given by the student here, just above the next button.

 

 

 

Step 3: Received Reviews

Received Reviews: Setting Up

Feedback-on-feedback: you can toggle whether or not students rate their reviewer feedback on a scale of 1 to 10, with optional written clarification.

 

Scheduling deadlines: Set the deadline for reviewing received feedback. Leave the deadline blank to allow reviewees to view and their feedback indefinitely, without being ‘too late’ to review.

 

 

 

Received Reviews: Active Assignment

You are able to see how much of the feedback the students have read by looking at progress overview. You also able to see the average rating they received, the amount of received comments and the how much time they spent on reading the comments.

 

 

 

 

Grading

After finishing setting up the core of the assignment, it is possible to add the configurable grading module. Click here to learn more about how this grading module works.

 

 

 

Grading: Active Assignment

In this step, you have to access a comprehensive overview detailing the grades of each student within the system.

 

By default, the grading module is enabled, it will be visible after the last step. The image below shows what that will look like. By clicking on the arrow on the right or using the scroll bar at the bottom, the teacher can view the rest of the grade sections (from left to right). On the far right there is also an optional grade adjustment. This allows the teacher to add or subtract points for each student. Click on Fullscreen to get a better view.
