Introduction

In this article we will walk you through the intended purpose of Assignment Review.

Teacher feedback is a crucial part of effective teaching to improve student performance and build academic skills. When given in a constructive and timely manner, it helps students develop self-regulation and address learning gaps to achieve their instructor's goals.

However, delivering quality feedback to every student in large classrooms is challenging, leading to dissatisfaction and reluctance to improve their work (Nicol, 2010). The Assignment Review tool enables you to give each student meaningful feedback using your own criteria and rubrics.

Assignment Review is designed to give structure and clarity to the feedback students receive from teachers on their submitted work.

Here you can find our user guides for Assignment Review:

How It Works

Teachers can use this activity in any online classroom setting in order to monitor and guide students to improve their final reports and performance.

The teacher outlines the activity and explains the evaluation criteria. Students then upload their assignments in various formats, such as written reports, essays, video recordings, or podcasts. Teachers provide both qualitative and quantitative feedback directly on the submissions. At the end of the activity, students reflect on their performance based on the feedback received.

Instructors can track analytics to monitor student engagement and address any questions. This can be managed through the teacher dashboard or by exporting data to a .csv file.

What Features Can I Use With Tool?

The options available to you will depend on your contract with us - these are the general features that can be added to this tool:

Highlighted Features

Individual and group peer feedback: Students can hand in work as individuals or as a group. Teachers can also ask students to hand in individually but shown in a group. When making it a group assignment, groups are automatically synced with the Learning Management System (LMS) to make the setup easier.

Reuse feedback comments: Reuse any feedback comment you post within an assignment. In cases where there is recurring feedback that has to be given on multiple students’ deliverables, this saves a lot of time.

Self-reflection: Require students to write a reflection on their received feedback and what they learned from the assignment as a whole. This helps students to internalize what they learned better, as well as the instructor being able to see if students have learned.

Turnitin Integration: If the institution has a license with Turnitin, instructors can enable plagiarism check setting for students to have their submissions reviewed for plagiarism by Turnitin.

Benefits of using Assignment Review

Assignment Review provides timely and actionable feedback on students' assignments.

  • Track student progress in each activity step - Monitor which students or groups have read the instructions, submitted their assignments, and reviewed the feedback throughout the activity, allowing teachers to keep track of student behavior.

  • Streamline the assessment process - Set up assignments, collect submissions, and provide feedback all in one place within your LMS, streamlining the process and tracking all artefacts efficiently.

  • Easy and quick feedback-giving - Create a rubric, scale rating, comment criteria, or a combination to assess and provide timely feedback on students' assignments. This helps students reflect on the feedback and identify ways to enhance their learning.
