The Discussion on Topic tool lets a teacher post a discussion prompt to which students can respond. Students can respond to the discussion prompt by creating one or more posts. Subsequently, students can reply to each other’s comments to discuss the topic. Students can express their agreement with comments by upvoting the comment.
1. Read instructions
Here you are able to read the instructions that the teacher will have set for you.
2. Create a new discussion post
Here you will be able to create a new discussion post for your peers to discuss on.
When you click on 'create another post' you can start typing your discussion post based on the discussion prompt set by your teacher in the green area above.
Once you're done typing you can click on the green 'submit' button.
You will see if you have completed your task once the progress bar shows a checkmark and 'completed'.
3. Discuss with your peers
Here you can see the posts you need to discuss on.
Click on the green 'start discussing' button to start the discussion thread.
Here you can see the instructions at the top of the page and you can see the posts you will need to discuss below this. When you click on the chatbox (next to the thumbs up in the bottom left of the post) it will open a sidebar where you can reply on the topic to start a discussion.
You can also use the thumbs up to like certain discussion posts. If you scroll down you will be able to see all the posts that are created by your peers and/or your teacher.
If your teacher has enabled grading you will be able to see them here.
Once your teacher has published all the grades it will look like this:
Here you can see your full grade and how many points you got for every step.
