Introduction

This page outlines the accessibility resources available on the FeedbackFruits platform.

Video Demonstration

Usage Without Vision

For usage without vision, FeedbackFruits provides screen reader/Braille functionality. We support all OS-based screen readers and NVDA. Most extensive development and testing was done with MacOS VoiceOver; browser-plugin based screen readers also work. This is part of the standard WCAG 2.1 Level AA specification, criterion 1.4.1.3 (Status Messages).

FeedbackFruits also provides keyboard-only access. Users can use a keyboard (Tabbing) or screen reader to navigate FeedbackFruits activities. We support all fundamental actions that are presented to regular users. This is part of the standard WCAG 2.0 Level A specification, criterion 2.1.1 (Keyboard).

Usage With Limited Vision

For usage with limited vision, FeedbackFruits provides contrast settings. Users can enhance the contrast for easier readability. This feature is available in the user's preferences.

The preferences are always available through the 3-dot-button in the top right. The contrast can be boosted at several levels, between 0 and 5. This is part of the standard WCAG 2.0 Level AA specification, criterion 1.4.11 (Non-Text Contrast).

FeedbackFruits also provides text size settings. Users can increase or reduce text size as needed. All text within the tools can be enlarged through the + and - button that activates the native zoom functionality with your chosen browser. Documents uploaded will also enlarge as a result. This is part of the standard WCAG 2.0 Level AA specification, criterion 1.4.4 (Resize Text).

Usage Without Hearing/With Limited Hearing

FeedbackFruits provides caption features. Once a video has been uploaded or linked, subtitles can be added within the Interactive Video tool. Custom subtitles can be uploaded as a .srt or .vtt file in the settings. For publicly accessible videos, a .srt file can be generated using Amara.org; you can find instructions on how to do this in the User Interface, and step by step guidance is available in this article: How do I Add Subtitles?

This is part of the standard WCAG 2.0 Level A specification, criterion 1.2.2 (Captions).

Usage With Limited Cognition

For usage with limited cognition, FeedbackFruits clearly separates navigation from content. Content sequencing is appropriate. Regularly an element is inappropriately nested so it doesn't pass W3C’s markup validator. This is part of the standard WCAG 2.0 Level A specification, criterion 1.3.2 (Meaningful Sequence).

FeedbackFruits also provides keyboard short-cuts. A wide variety of shortcuts are available for all frequent actions. An overview can be brought up at any time by pressing the " ? " key (as per emerging industry convention) within FeedbackFruits. Alternatively, keyboard shortcuts can be accessed by selecting ‘Preferences’ from the three-dot menu at the top right-hand corner of all activities. This is part of the standard WCAG 2.1 Level A specification, criterion 2.1.4 (Character Key Shortcuts).
