Exciting update: Launch date confirmed for 1 September 2023
Right on the heels of our new and improved Skill Review tool, we are introducing a significant change to how reviews are conducted in our Assignment Review tool. Get ready for a streamlined approach that shifts the focus from individual submissions to a more holistic evaluation, resulting in a more comprehensive review.
Why redesign?
We on the product team are committed to continuously enhancing your experience. This redesign isn't just a change in appearance – it's a proactive step towards improving usability, efficiency, and engagement across our platform. By simplifying navigation, streamlining workflows, and incorporating valuable user feedback, we're dedicated to providing you with a more seamless and effective tool set.
Which are the key highlights?
Holistic review experience: This enhanced review process will shift the focus from individual submissions to reviewing students as a whole. Instead of evaluation individual submission in isolation, reviewers will be able to evaluate the student's overall progress and performance, taking into account all their work.
Simplified playlist: Instead of navigating through separate sections, you will follow a seamless progression, ensuring you don't miss steps. The playlist presents tasks in a logical order, so you focus on one thing at a time.
Review comments: The current matrix-style 'Review Comments' page has numerous clickable areas. While it has served its purpose, we have recognized the need for a more streamlined and user-friendly design. Our new threaded format offers a cleaner, intuitive interface, making it easier to navigate and respond to comments.
Clear and actionable buttons: The redesign includes clear buttons for each action within the tool. Whether you are reviewing, posting, or replying, you will have accessible options for immediate action.
How will it look like?
Before: the current Assignment Review process is operated on a submission basis, allowing for multiple submissions and calculating progress accordingly. For instance, if the student submits a report, a video and a presentation, the teacher would have to grade each submission individually, based on the same criteria. Despite allowing for precise feedback, this approach could sometimes be time-consuming and complex for reviewers.

Now: in the new review process, teachers can view all the individual submissions from a student, but evaluate them as a bundle. The feedback will be displayed in a threaded format, allowing for smoother navigation, enhanced feedback comprehension and holistic approach.

What else to expect?
Change can be concerning, but our redesigned Assignment Review tool aims to enhance your experience without disruption. Here's what to expect:
Seamless transition: The transition to the new interface is seamless. You won't experience any change, disruptions or loss to you or your students’ ongoing work.
Continuity for existing Assignment Review assignments: Existing assignments will maintain their integrity. The data will remain unchanged, now presented through an improved user interface.
New Skill Review assignments: Assignments created after the launch will automatically adopt the new and improved user interface, ensuring a consistent and user-friendly experience right from the beginning. Your workflow remains intact, with the added benefit of the enhanced UI for new assignments.
Same quality, fresh look: While the design has been revamped, the core functionality and quality of the Assignment Review tool remains unchanged. You will still be able to provide valuable feedback and reviews just as effectively as before.
Intuitive navigation: The new design is easier to navigate. Accessing assignments, submissions, and review tools is straightforward. Comments are prominently displayed, and you can collapse them for control.
