How this article is structured
Setting up an activity follows three stages, shown in the bar at the top of the activity whenever you're in edit mode:
Build activity — get an overview of your activity and add or remove steps.
Edit steps — configure each step individually.
Finalize activity — configure settings that apply across the activity, such as deadlines and grade weighting.
Everything below describes what you can configure before the activity is published. Students cannot access the activity at this stage. Some settings can still be changed after publishing, but certain options may become locked once students start making progress.
Accessibility
We're devoted to making our tools as accessible as possible for all learners. To read more, see Accessibility: Within FeedbackFruits Tools.
Stage 1 — Build activity
This is your starting point. Here you can see all the learning steps in the activity and adjust its structure before configuring each step.
A default Feedback Request on Work activity contains:
Read instructions
Hand in
Your feedback request
Read received feedback
Once your activity structure is ready, continue to Edit steps.
Stage 2 — Edit steps
Here you configure each learning step individually. A Student preview is shown alongside the settings so you can see how the activity will appear to students.
Step 1: Read instructions
Add the instructions students will see when they begin the activity.
Type your instructions directly into the field on the right.
Step 2: Hand in
Configure how and what students submit.

Plagiarism check
Enable Plagiarism check to have submitted documents checked using Turnitin.
Visibility of hand ins
Choose who can see students' submitted work.
Optional instructions for this step
Add additional instructions that apply specifically to the Hand in step.
Step 3: Your feedback request
In this step, configure the feedback criteria students can request feedback on and provide instructions for reviewers.
Feedback criteria students can choose from
Click Add criteria to create the criteria reviewers will use when giving feedback. Criteria can include:
Rubrics
Scales
Comment-only criteria
Student criteria selection
Enable Student criteria selection to allow students to choose which criteria they would like feedback on. If this option is disabled, reviewers provide feedback on all criteria you have configured.
Teacher instructions for the reviewers
Add instructions that reviewers will see while reviewing the student's work.
Step 4: Read received feedback
Configure what students can do after receiving feedback from their reviewers.
Feedback on feedback
Enable Feedback on feedback to let students rate the usefulness of the feedback they receive on a scale from 1 to 10.
Stage 3 — Finalize activity
The final stage contains settings that apply across the activity, including deadlines and grade weighting.
Deadlines
Turn on Deadlines to add end dates to the applicable learning steps in your activity. Set the relevant end date next to each step. If no deadline is set, the step remains available without an end date.
Grade weighting
Turn on Grade weighting to assign percentages to the graded components of the activity. The available grading criteria are displayed next to the relevant learning steps. Assign the percentage you want each component to contribute to the overall grade.
The total grade weighting should add up to 100%.
Advanced grading settings
Click Advanced settings under Grade weighting to configure additional grading options.
You can choose the Grade type:
Percentage
Pass/fail
You can also configure:
Require participation to receive a grade — only students who open the learning activity receive a grade.
Schedule grade publish — automatically publish grades at a selected date.
Auto-publish after completing graded steps — automatically publish an individual student's overall grade once they complete all graded learning steps.
Once everything is configured, click Done.
Good to know
Student criteria selection
When Student criteria selection is enabled, students can decide which criteria they would specifically like feedback on.
External reviewers
Reviewers do not need a FeedbackFruits account. They receive an invitation and can access the student's feedback request to provide their review.
Reviewers can see the submitted work
Because this activity is focused on requesting feedback on work, reviewers can see the student's submitted work alongside the feedback criteria while completing their review.
