Enhanced Automated Feedback reliability and performance
We've made substantial improvements to the architecture behind Automated Feedback to deliver a more reliable and faster experience when students submit their work.
What's changed:
We've reworked how documents are processed in Automated Feedback. While you won't see any changes to the user interface, these technical improvements address the errors some have experienced and improve overall performance.
What you'll notice:
Fewer errors: Significantly reduced "unable to read document" and "waiting for robot reader" errors that previously prevented submissions from receiving suggestions
Faster results: Documents process more quickly, getting feedback to students sooner
Improved accuracy: Better recognition of some criteria, for eg. tables and paragraph structures in student submissions
These improvements are automatically available to all users with access to Automated Feedback and have been timed to ensure a smooth experience for the new semester/academic year. We will continue to make iterative refinements to further enhance the experience.
Renaming Learning Steps in Studio
We've added the ability to customise step names in Studio, giving you more flexibility to align activity language with your specific learning design and student expectations.
What's new:
You can now edit FeedbackFruits step titles to better match the learning design you are implementing, ensuring consistency between expected interaction moments shared in other course supporting material and the language students experience when working on the FeedbackFruits activity.
What you'll notice:
Optional customisation: Default step names remain automatically filled in—no action required if you prefer to keep existing names
Easy editing: Click on any step title to edit; changes autosave when you click away
Consistent updates: Renamed steps appear consistently across Studio, including in the overview and sidebar for the activity you are currently editing
This improvement is automatically available to all Studio users.
Setup Wizard Improvements
We’ve improved the Setup Wizard to help IT admins complete their integration setup without unnecessary delays.
Previously, some IT admins started the Setup Wizard but didn’t finish it, often because it wasn’t clear that the process was incomplete or there was no follow-up reminder after an interruption. This could lead to partially configured integrations and slower rollout.
With this release:
If an admin doesn’t finish the flow, an automatic reminder email is sent (starting 24 hours after the setup was abandoned).
Additional weekly reminder emails are sent until the setup is completed.
Each email includes a personalized link that takes the admin directly back into the Setup Wizard to resume from where they left off.
This change helps ensure integrations are configured fully and on time, reducing manual follow-up and improving onboarding reliability.
