Step 1: Instructions
In this step, as soon as you open a comprehension assignment, you will likely see the instructions from your teacher. Read these to find out more about the assignment.

Step 2: Hand in
After the instructions (section 1), the themes in their colors appear (section 2). You must follow these to demonstrate your understanding. Each theme, set by your teacher, requires at least one in-text annotation and an optional summary. These sections help track your progress.

Here you will also find a preview of the file you have to read. Press "Start Annotating" to do just that.
The File Viewer
As soon as you do this, the file viewer will show up, and you can start annotating by selecting areas in the file, and subsequently, the theme you want to annotate about. These themes will appear inline once a selection has been made, here the desired theme simply has to be selected. You can either directly post the annotation, or also add a written elaboration. This will let your teacher, and if enabled, your peers, see the annotation represented graphically in-text and also its contents.
Other Options
Some of the other options you have in the Comprehension module are indicated next to the blue arrows in the screenshot below.

Another way to see annotations of others, without clicking on "Annotations" below each theme, is by clicking the graphical, in-text elements, i.e., the colored which light up to in their respective color when you drag your mouse over them.

To reveal the text behind any of them (if there is any), along with the theme for which they got selected and the author of the annotation, click them once. This information will show up on the right bar, where there are also social options (i.e., the ability to comment on the annotation/message, or to upvote by clicking with the thumbs up symbol).
