FeedbackFruits sends out notification emails about things happening in learning activities. You will also see these notifications in the FeedbackFruits notification center. In this article, we explain which activities trigger notifications.
For email notifications to be sent, the assignment has to:
Be opened by at least three students or 10% of the students in the assignment.
Have at least one student with less than a 100% completion rate.
We have set these requirements so users can set up demo assignments without triggering a notification whenever they make a change.
Notification Emails
Every day around 18:00 (local server time), we send out a summary email to users, notifying them about important things that have happened in their FeedbackFruits activities in the last 24 hours. When nothing new has happened, we will not send an email.
We include the following types of notifications in this summary email:
Deadlines
If a student has unfinished work, a reminder will be included in the summary email. Students will receive this notification between 12 and 36 hours before the deadline, depending on the time of the deadline. Once you complete the step, you will no longer receive reminders for it.This email contains a link to the assignment. If a student has never accessed the assignment through the LMS before receiving this email, the link is disabled. Instead, the student will be instructed to navigate to the assignment through the LMS.
Received feedback
Students will receive a notification when they receive a new feedback comment or rating.Replies to comments or uploads
Users will receive notifications about replies to their comments or uploads.Replies to comments: The user who left the comment will receive a notification. Users who have replied to a comment will also be notified about new replies in the thread.
New discussion threads and question cards: When new discussion threads or question cards are added to Interactive Document, Video, Audio, or Comprehension activities, the teacher will receive a notification.
It is possible to unsubscribe from these emails using the link at the bottom of the email. Please note that if you unsubscribe, you will not receive any of the notifications mentioned above, including deadline reminders.
Want to re-subscribe? Please contact our Support team through Zendesk using the green bubble in the lower-left corner.
We also send some notifications instantly, only for platform 2.0 users:
Invitations for courses or course groups — maximum of one email per day until online.
Invitations for direct groups — always.
Reminders for courses, course groups, or direct group invitations — always; these can be sent by teachers.
You can unsubscribe from each of these notification categories separately by clicking the link at the bottom of the email.
Additional Notes on Staff and Student Notifications
Instructor notifications
Instructors also receive the daily summary email when relevant, including updates on student activity, feedback given or received, and new discussion threads or question cards added to Interactive assignments.
This helps instructors stay up to date with student progress and activity across their courses.
Admin and staff notifications
FeedbackFruits currently cannot distinguish between staff members who are exclusively administrators and staff members who also have a teaching role for the purpose of the daily summary email.
As a result, all staff users may receive the daily summary email when there are relevant notifications, including users who primarily have an administrative role.
Withheld feedback visibility
If feedback visibility is set to Never (release manually), students will not receive feedback or ratings in their summary email or notification center until the instructor manually publishes the feedback.
This gives instructors control over when students can view their peer or teacher evaluations.
After Clicking on the Link
When clicking on the link in the email, you will be navigated to the assignment.*
If you use FeedbackFruits within your LMS, you will first have to log in to your LMS to view the new activity.
If you use our platform, you will be automatically logged in with your FeedbackFruits account. This allows you to navigate directly to the action mentioned in the notification.
Your FeedbackFruits account is connected to the email account where you receive the notifications. The automatic login link will work for 14 days. After that period, you will need to log in with your account details.
For some LMS users, clicking the link might not bring them directly to the assignment.
Notification Center
You can find the notification center in the top bar of a FeedbackFruits assignment. Here, you can read notifications related to that assignment.
By clicking on a notification, you will be directed to where the activity took place. For example, you may be directed to a comment that someone replied to.
All notifications included in the summary notification email will also appear in the notification center.
In the notification center, students will only receive a notification about being reviewed once, after the teacher or a peer has finished reviewing them. If a student receives a new comment, this will be included in the summary email.
