It is very easy to re-use a learning activity which you have already set up. First, keep in mind the name of the instance which you want to copy. Then, create a new, blank module of the relevant tool in the same or even another course. Access it, press "Get Started" and you will be be met with the usual set up screen.
In set-up mode, you can access a small drop-down menu by clicking on "copy from existing", just above the first step.
The menu will contain the name of the old learning activities you've set up in the respective tool along with their date and the name of the creator. Select the one you want in this list.
As soon as you click the desired version, all associated settings, as well as the file the respective version used, will be copied from the old version into the new one. The copy will not include the groups that were in the previous assignment.
Once you will click "Save" you will conclude the process of copying an old assignment into a new one. Make sure, however, to set a fitting name for your new learning activity within the LMS interface also.
Templates
Templates can be created from existing activities; they can then be prioritized and easy to find. This is available across all tools that can currently be copied. Templates are linked to an individual user, meaning that teachers cannot see templates created by their colleagues, unless they share them. There are two ways in which a template can be created:
after you save/publish an assignment there is the new ‘create template’ button in the top right of the screen beside the options button
when creating a new activity, by clicking on the 'copy from existing button' a dialog will appear to choose an activity/template. In this new dialog, selecting an activity will allow for the option to save the activity as a template.
After creating a template it will be pinned and available in the 'Use copy of existing' menu when creating a new assignment. The templates will be listed at the top of the menu and your recently accessed assignment listed below.
Sending a template of an activity
Although templates are per user, they can also be easily shared with others, so more peers or other faculty members can use them for their courses. You can do so through two different ways:
Within Personal or Shared Libraries
In the platform, in Personal or Shared Libraries, you will find a list of activities that are part of that library. Next to each activity title, on the right side you will find the three dots menu. You can select 'send a copy' there.
Within a learning activity
Another option is to enter in the learning activity you want to send. Then, navigate to the three dot menu on the top right corner of your screen. You can select 'send a copy' there.
In both instances, you will see a dialogue box appear, where you can enter the email addresses of the people you want to share the activity with. And that's all!
