My Library | Setting up and managing templates
Updated over a week ago

Templates can be created from existing activities. This is available across all our tools that can currently be copied. Templates are per user which means users will not see each-others templates, unless sharing them. There are three main ways you can create a template:

  1. after you save/publish an assignment there is the ‘create template’ button in the top right of the screen beside the options button

  2. when creating a new activity, when we now click the 'copy from existing' button we get the new dialog to choose an activity/template. In this dialog if you select an activity you will have the option to save this activity as a template.

  3. creating them in your library

Creating templates in your library

My library is a place for you to create, edit and manage your templates of activities and rubrics. In here, you'll find three main sections: Activity templates, Rubric templates and Learning Journeys.

Activity Templates

If you have created any templates before, you'll find them here. If you don't have any yet, or want to create more then you can get started by pressing the green plus button, where you'll be given the option to select a FeedbackFruits activity that you want to create a template for.

In here, you can select the relevant FeedbackFruits tool, and start setting up the template much like any other activity. You can customize all the settings and content, so that the template is ready for use.

Once you save it, you'll see it pop up in your toolpicker under templates, ready for implementation. If you ever want to edit or manage the template, you can always go back to the platform by clicking on the pointing up arrow on the top right corner.

Rubric Templates

Creating good rubrics takes time, and using the same rubric over again can help students understand expectations and reflect their development over time.

The rubric templates in "My library" now makes it easier to re-use and store rubrics in one central place. Rubrics live in folders, you can always create a new folder for them to live in by pressing the new folder button in top right corner, these could be for example used for categorization purposes, such as collaboration rubrics, or rubrics for a specific course.

Once you're ready to create a rubric just click on the green plus button. The set up is the same as within the FeedbackFruits tools that use rubrics. Once you save it, it will become part of your library. You can implement it when you're setting up learning activities which feature rubrics.

When you're setting up an feedback assignment, click on the "add criteria" button.

From there, you'll see a new addition to the criteria dialogue, "use rubrics from my library", you'll see all the rubrics from your library, listed the same way you see them in your library.

Select the rubric you want to use, and you're ready to go! You can always add more than one, by following the process again.

Learning journeys

Learning journeys are multi-step templates tackling different learning outcomes to foster student engagement, skills and success. With Learning journeys can easily set up multiple FeedbackFruits activities at once, and implement these into your LMS courses as single activities with only one click. These can be saved in My Library as templates and be reused as many times as desired.

To create a new Learning journey, you can click on the blue plus button at the bottom right corner of the screen. Then, instead of directly selecting one FeedbackFruits tool, click on 'Learning journey'.

After naming your journey, you will be able to start adding FeedbackFruits activities. For more detailed information about how to set up Learning journeys, please consult this resource.

Sharing templates

Although templates are per user, they can also be easily shared with others, so more peers or other faculty members can use them for their courses. You can do so through two different ways:

Within Personal or Shared Libraries

In the platform, in Personal or Shared Libraries, you will find a list of activities that are part of that library. Next to each activity title, on the right side you will find the three dots menu. You can select 'send a copy' there.

Within a learning activity

Another option is to enter in the learning activity you want to send. Then, navigate to the three dot menu on the top right corner of your screen. You can select 'send a copy' there.

In both instances, you will see a dialogue box appear, where you can enter the email addresses of the people you want to share the activity with. And that's all! Please read more about Sending activity templates here.

This concludes the My Library | Setting up and managing templates tutorial.
