  • Tweaked open in new tab functionality

Comprehension as one tool

We are merging all of our Comprehension tools into one. This means that all types of media whether that is a document, audio, video or an image file, can be uploaded in the same tool type.

After the activity has been created with the selected media file, the assignment will work as before. The same functionality is to be expected for all media types.

Groups in Comprehension

We have added a group functionality to Comprehension, similar to how groups are selected in Interactive Study Materials.

Teachers can choose for students to either see the contributions of everyone, or those within groups. If the group functionality is selected, each student will only see the annotations of fellow group members.

The teacher can either filter on each group or filter on individual students.
Students can only see and filter on people in their group.

Interactive Study Materials Questions Analytics

All Interactive Study Materials activities with questions now have two tabs on the analytics section. The first tab called 'participants' contains the analytics already present in Interactive Study Materials.

In this release we have added the second tab 'questions', which contains analytics for the questions created by the teachers and by the students, in the case that setting has been enabled for the activity.

The teachers can search by question, sort and also hide all the questions created by the students. The new analytics are also included on the downloadable analytics export

Copying of activities with LTI 1.3

Previously, when copying an LTI activity from one course to another in an LMS, the teacher still had to open the activity in the new course and use our 'copy from existing' feature to create a copy of the original activity.

With LTI 1.1 we already automatically recognized that the item is a copy and we automatically made a copy, this now works with LTI 1.3 too.

This means that after this release, teachers can copy over their LMS course and will no longer have to manually copy over each assignment with both LTI 1.1 & LTI 1.3.

The steps that have to be taken in order for the course to be copied can be found in this article for Blackboard, Brightspace, Canvas and Moodle. (Please note that these instructions are based on our test environments and settings might be slightly different in your individual LMS)

Default notes for Group Member Evaluation, Peer Review and Interactive Video

The "Need help setting up?" card and the "HELP WITH SETTING UP" button on the top of the activities have been removed from all activities.

Instead, when a Group Member Evaluation, Peer Review or Interactive Video is created, a default note authored by our verified user "FeedbackFruits" will appear at the top of the activity.

Teacher playlist for reflections

When teachers wanted to read all reflections in an assignments, they had to click on the rows in the analytics table to open a dialog with the reflection for that user in it.

This dialog has now been replaced with a playlist where teachers can easily step through all the reflections with a single button. This playlist is available in all tools that support the reflect step, both existing and new assignments.

For Group Member Evaluation and Peer Review this playlist was already available in the new review flow, so teachers can then easily switch between the submissions, given reviews, received reviews or reflections by a certain student. In case the old review flow is used, the playlist is still only available for the reflections.

Extra playback speeds for uploaded videos

More options for playback speeds for videos uploaded as a file have been added. These options were already available when uploading a video as URL, but now x 0.75, x 1.25 and x 1.75 are also available for videos uploaded as a file.

Update on previous release v2.70:

Tweaked open in new tab functionality

Many of our users gave feedback on the “Open in new tab” feature, which was released in the v2.70. We noticed that some of our users prefer the “Fullscreen” feature, because for them it provides a more seamless integration into the LMS.

That is why we are now giving our users the option to choose whether they would like to go into fullscreen, or open the learning activity in a new tab.

Note that not all LMSes allow the fullscreen option, so in these cases the open in new tab button remains as is

This concludes the Release Notes v2.71 November 2021.
