This article will guide you through our Discussion on Work tool and its possibilities. This article is written to help you to enhance your understanding of the functionalities of this tool.

In step 1 you will find the instructions that have been set by your teacher. If you have to hand in work as a group or discuss within your own group, you will also see the name of your group and who's in it here.

When you scroll down to step 2, you will find the box where you need to hand in your file. You can either click select file to upload a file from your computer, or drag a file into the box. You also have the possibility to paste a website link, for example if you want to upload a Youtube video.

If you have to hand in work as a group, only one of your group members has to hand in. Everyone else can also see what was handed in and what comments other students made about your work.

When you have handed in your work, the following screen will appear. If you want, you can add more files. By clicking on your file, you can view your submission in a separate window. If you did not upload the correct file, you can delete it by clicking on the trash icon.

In step 3, you will discuss the work of your peers. Read the instructions (if the teacher has added them), and press go to the discussion. 

Note: you will have to wait until your peers have submitted their files, otherwise you can not start discussing their documents. As you can see below, you have to discuss the submissions of 2 peers, so you need to wait until you can discuss the work of 2 people before you can move on to the next step. 

Here you can see the work that your peers submitted. It is not shown in this screenshot, but if you scroll down you can also view the remarks on your own work.

Let's zoom in on the work of Donald Cook (student 3 paper). You are able to write a comment and upvote the document. If you click the three dots next to the document, you can download it. If you move your move your mouse on the document (top right), it will say show. Clicking on it opens the document. 

Now you can comment in the document and place annotations. You can either annotate a certain area of the document as seen below, or annotate specific phrases in the document. 

You are also able to see the comments other peers made on your classmate hand in assignment, and you can sort the comments according to your preference. Now it is sorted on location. 

When you have completed your peer reviews, you can move on to the open discussion in step 4 by pressing submit. 

Note: in this tool, it is about the number of works you have reviewed, not about the number of comments.

Again, press go to the discussion to view the other works.

This screen will open. You can sort the articles. Now it is sorted on most commented on. This screen looks similar to the one in step 3 but, now you are able to view all the documents, instead of only those from your assigned peers. You can now contribute to the open discussion by placing comments and upvotes. 

This is an example of student interaction where students have placed comments and reacted on other remarks and placed upvotes.   

Just like in step 3, if you click on the document in the top right corner, it will open. Now you can see it with more student activity. 

After (optionally) making more contributions to other works, you can go to step 5. 

Here you need to reflect on the discussion. Write your reflection, press submit and you are done!
You can edit until the deadline passes.
