This article will guide you through our Discussion Assignment tool and its possibilities. This article is written to help you to enhance your understanding of the functionalities of this tool.

To show you which settings you can choose when setting up the assignment, you will be walked through the edit mode.

The edit mode

To enter the edit mode, simply click on the three dots in the top right corner (next to the focus mode button).

Setting up

After entering the edit mode, you see two options in the top right corner. When you click Help with setting up, a link to our help center and a link to our support chat will be shown. Also, the instructional video about Discussion Assignment will show. The option Use copy of existing offers you the possibility to copy another, previous assignment and its instructions and settings. This could save you some time when setting up your assignment.

When you have written your instructions, you can move on to step 2.

Hand in

Here it is possible to set the hand in details. You can add extra instructions if desired, set a deadline and determine how many files each student has to submit

Discuss with your peers

In step 3 the peer discussion settings are filled in. Students will have to react on the work of their peers. Just like in step 2, you can add extra instructions and set a deadline for this discussion. At the bottom it is possible to decide how many works from their peers students need to asses before being able to move on to the open discussion.

Open discussion

Step 4 is where you set the deadline for the open discussion. This is the part where all students can review each others work and have an open discussion. In the open discussion, the discussion is not limited to the peers that have been assigned to you.

Reflection

Finally, in step 5 the settings for the reflection on the discussion are decided. You can add a required length of written reflection, with a minimum and maximum number of words.
