Reading and replying to comments and your peer's ratings, writing a reflection

Updated over a week ago

This article explains how you can read your peer's (or peers') feedback, and (if your teacher has enabled that option) how you can write a reflection on the feedback. Before you can read the feedback you received, you will have to upload your work and write a review of your peer's work.

When you open the assignment, scroll down to step 4. In the top-right corner of step 4 you will see how much time you have remaining until the deadline for writing a reflection. You will still be able to view the feedback you received and the reflection you wrote after the deadline, but you will not be able to edit your reflection. If your teacher has not set a deadline for this step you can edit your reflection indefinitely.

Click on the name of your file to view it and the feedback you received. You will see the work you submitted on the left. On the right you see who reviewed you, and a list of the different criteria. The rating for each criterion is an average of the scores given to you by your peers.

The grey boxes in the document indicate that your peer wrote a comment about that section. Click on the grey box or the speech bubble on the right side of the document to see the comment.

Alternatively, click read at the bottom of a criterion to see all the comments related to that criterion. Click on a comment to see which section of the document the comment pertains to.

If your reviewer indicated that a comment was a compliment or a suggestion, it will say so below the comment. You can also see how many upvotes (thumbs up) the comment received. Click on the thumbs up to upvote a comment. You can also respond  to a comment by writing a thumbs up below it.

Click the back arrow to return to the feedback overview. At the top-right corner of the screen you will see which of your fellow students reviewed your work. Click filter next to a student's name to see only the feedback that student wrote. Besides, if the teacher enabled the option, you can also rate the feedback you received and comment on it.

When you are done reading the feedback, click finish later (or done if you've read all the comments) to return to the assignment's home page. In step 4 you can write a reflection on the received feedback: what you learned, what you will do differently next time, what you feel you did well, etc.

If your teacher set a minimum length, you will see how many words are still required below your reflection, if not, you will see the word-count. Click submit when you are done writing your reflection. Note that you can edit your reflection until the deadline passes.
