Before proceeding with these steps, please inform your contact person or Pilot and Partner Manager at FeedbackFruits to ensure a smooth and safe process.

Please note that the API integration has been deprecated for LTI 1.1, and can only be used with LTI 1.3. Consider setting up with LTI 1.3 instead.

Introduction

Enabling LTI for Brightspace is done in 2 steps. First a Tool Provider is created, then you can create links which use this Tool Provider's settings, thus preventing duplication in your configuration.

Configuration

Create the Tool Provider

1. Click on the Settings button, Click on External Learning Tools

2. Select the Manage Tool Providers tab, click New Tool Provider
3. Fill out the fields

Tool Provider settings

Launch Point:

  • Europe: api.feedbackfruits.com

  • North America: us-api.feedbackfruits.com

  • Australia: au-api.feedbackfruits.com

Version: 1.1

OAuth Signature Method: HMAC-SHA256
Secret: as given to you
Use custom tool consumer information instead of default: Check
Key: as given to you
Name: Name of your institution
Description: Description of your institution
Contact Email: Your email
Allow users to use this tool provider: Check

Security Settings

Check all boxes

4. Select the Org Units you wish to enable this tool provider for
5. Click Save and Close

Create a remote plugin

1. Click on the Settings button, click on Remote plugins

2. Click New Remote Plugin
3. Fill out the fields
Plugin type: Quicklink (CIM)
(If this option isn't available set the d2l.Tools.Lti.ContentItemMessaging.IsEnabled option to on in the Config Variable Browser)
Name: FeedbackFruits
Launch Point URL:

Description: Tools to support teachers teaching
LTI key: leave empty - this will use the Tool Provider configuration
LTI secret: leave empty - this will use the Tool Provider configuration

4. Make sure to select the Org Units you want this remote plugin enabled for, it could be all descendants of the top level Org Unit
5. Click Save and Close

Testing
